MSX Sound and Optional Game Controller

What is it?

Experience retro sounds with the YM2149 sound and optional expansion game controller module. These modules provides MSX-compatible sound and controller support (joysticks, game pads, etc.) for your RC2014/RCBus system. It is also compatible with RomWBW sound applications.

Features

What’s included in this kit

The kit includes the PCB and components (passive components,  sockets, connectors and other ICs).

The kit can also optionally include the following:

  • The Game Controller module to support external game pads/joysticks interfaces via the 9-pin DSUB connectors.
  • The On-board clock divider –  needed to use the alternative sound chip : AY-3-8910.  See the main documentation page for details of the on-board clock divider (https://www.dinoboards.com.au/stegosaur/game/)
  • A tested YM2149 or AY-3-8910 sound chip – The kit will not work without a sound chip.  So include this, or source your own.

Please Note: The AY-3-8910 is tested to confirm the chip’s function. It may have been incorrectly marked as a YM2149. Requires the Optional AY Support for the external clock divider circuit
